Don’t Leave Me to Myself
(Deep House Blues × Anatolian Sufi) [Spoken Intro – soft rain + distant ney + low sub-bass]
The dungeon taught me three things:
One: You are nothing.
Two: Everything you call “mine”
can be taken from you one day.
Three: Sometimes wanting…
just let go.
Surrender.
The one waiting at the door
never knows who will open it. [Verse 1]
Then the doors opened.
I didn’t walk out…
I was carried out.
One morning I found myself
under a different sky. I asked:
Am I Joseph?
Should I go looking for the well?
Why does a man
walk into the dark with his own feet? [Verse 2]
Then I followed my lower self.
I stepped on a stone,
chased a word,
mistook a shadow for the truth
and fell into the well again. This time the rope didn’t come right away.
I called out…
my voice came back to me.
I waited. The night grew longer.
I understood:
Not every well has a caravan.
The cruelty of the cruel
is the very well they dig for themselves. [Pre-Chorus]
Then I searched for love.
Or maybe love was searching for me.
From inside the darkness
a hand touched mine.
I was pulled out. But I grew afraid:
“What if love ends?
What becomes of me then?” [Chorus]
A voice inside said:
If you end when love ends,
you didn’t fail the test of love…
you failed the test of possessing it. Because the Beloved is only a trust,
being loved is a trust.
The rose that opens in the heart is a trust,
and so is its fragrance. [Verse 3]
You are Joseph, full of beauty,
and this world is the well.
The rope that can lift you
is patience under the command of God. The pen was powerless.
The paper was powerless.
I was powerless.
And everything that says “I”
is a little powerless. Time is not only for bandaging your own wound.
It is time to sit beside the broken,
to listen to their silence,
and not throw stones
into anyone else’s well. [Bridge]
Every human has one or two weak veins.
Touch them and a sound comes.
Strike them and a cry comes.
Bind them and a prayer comes. The real mastery
is not finding the weak vein…
it is what you do once you’ve found it.
Will you be the knife
or the balm? Destiny is not a city you arrive at.
A human life is a race
to seek true knowing.
The further ahead you go,
the more you realize you are behind.
The higher you rise,
the closer your forehead comes to the earth. And the moment you say
“I have become…
I will never fall into the well again”…
that is exactly when
you find yourself standing at its mouth. [Final Chorus / Outro – deep house pulse rising under ney]
Maybe true knowing is this:
Fear the well, but do not curse it.
Hold on to love, but do not claim it as yours.
Use the pen, but never believe the writing belongs to you.
Be the paper, but never say “I carry the fate.” And never, ever say
“I have arrived.” Tremble a little.
Moan a little.
Wait at the door a little. Because the greatest human mistake
is believing the door opens with your own key. Then you lower your head and simply say: I am here.
The well is Yours,
the rope is Yours,
love is Yours,
the pen is Yours,
the paper is Yours. Don’t leave me to myself.
