Of Hearth & Moss - If My Heart Should Break Apart
If the morning feels a little thin, And the kettle hums a quiet hymn, I still feel you in the early light, Like dew that lingers from the night. Your laughter lives in the wooden floor, Your warmth still waits by the old back door. Even now, when my chest feels torn, I’m grateful for the days we’d sworn. If my heart should break apart, Let it be from loving hard. For every bloom must someday fade, But love remains in what it made. If I die from this tender ache, It’s worth the path our footsteps take. The fields still hum the songs we knew, The oak still sways like it once knew you. And though this quiet cuts me deep, Love’s gentle roots are mine to keep. Some lives pass without a spark, No warmth to soften all the dark. But I was blessed, the whole way through, To share a season here with you. If my heart should break apart, Let it be from loving hard. For even grief, in its soft way, Is proof that love had come to stay. If I die from this tender ache, It’s worth the love we dared to make. Yeah… if this heart falls torn in two, It lived its best from loving you.
