One Step Today Verse 1 Coffee in my favourite cup, Sun’s not even thinking ’bout coming up. Pull my shoes on, laugh out loud, “Just day thirteen…” yeah, not now. I made a promise to myself, “I’ll take it one day at a time.” Then I looked ahead to tomorrow… Guess I was lying the whole time. Pre-Chorus I know exactly how this goes, I’ve seen this movie all before. The second I finish today… I’m already out that door. Chorus One step today… Is tomorrow’s promise too. Thirteen’s just the first half, Fourteen’s coming through. One step today… Every metre pulls me on. I haven’t finished thirteen, But tomorrow’s already won. Oh-oh-oh… I’ve already made my choice. Oh-oh-oh… Tomorrow’s got my voice. Verse 2 A hundred-forty off Merrell shoes, Kinisi’s gone to fifteen too. Twenty off at Huntaway, Mountain Skag’s calling my name. Crush the Cargill raised the stakes, The hundred-miler’s now in play. Funny what can drag you uphill When tomorrow’s one day away. Pre-Chorus Every metre’s got a secret, Every hill’s a little clue. Finish thirteen, blink an eye… Fourteen’s already pulling you. Bridge RUN. HIKE. SURVIVE. Nobody walks away on thirteen With fourteen waiting at the door. The decision’s already made. I’m just climbing towards it. Final Chorus One step today… Is tomorrow’s promise too. Thirteen’s just the first half, Fourteen’s coming through. One step today… Every metre pulls me on. Today’s only half the story… Tomorrow’s already won. Oh-oh-oh… See you at sunrise. Oh-oh-oh… Let’s unlock tomorrow.
