[Intro] [hummed] Hmmm-mmm Hmmm-mmm-mmm Deep in the breathing wood Dust on the roots Black hood [Verse 1] Smoke on the moss at dawn Three little beds All torn Names on the cottage wall Scratched by a trembling hand That’s all Tracks in the fern Half gone Ash in the creek runs on Old ones sing low “Don’t call” Teeth in a leather string That’s all [Chorus] Ohhh In the dark of the timber (hmmm) They rise They rise Forest of the Taken Remember Our cries Our cries We hunt But the shadows grow taller Each child A price Kneel to the roots of the horror Cold eyes Cold eyes [Verse 2] Good hearts walk armed with faith Lanterns that barely blaze Maps made of whispered tales Guided by bones and braided trails Stare at the red bark door Carved with a hundred more Prayers that the gate swings wide Prayers that it never does Inside [Chorus] Ohhh In the dark of the timber (hmmm) They rise They rise Forest of the Taken Remember Our cries Our cries We hunt But the shadows grow taller Each child A price Kneel to the roots of the horror Cold eyes Cold eyes [Bridge] [hummed chant Low and heavy] Hmmm-HEY Hmmm-HEY (hey!) Blood and bark They bind this way Hmmm-HEY Hmmm-HEY Good ones fall when giants pray [Chorus] Ohhh In the dark of the timber (hmmm) They rise They rise Forest of the Taken Remember Our cries Our cries We hunt But the shadows grow taller Each child A price Kneel to the roots of the horror Cold eyes Cold eyes [Outro] [hummed] Hmmm-mmm Hmmm-mmm-mmm Names on the cottage wall Wind is the witness That’s all
