Forgot the Socks

[Verse 1] Four of us came in hungry Left with a cart full of proof A rotisserie chicken, paper towels Two phone chargers and barbecue sauce We passed the toy aisle laughing At a tower of plastic sharks You grabbed some dish soap, I got tea And Rae said, "We really needed none of this" [Pre-Chorus] We circled past produce Twice for the apples and chips Checked off the list in our heads Then one thing slipped [Chorus] We forgot the socks We forgot the socks Every shelf, every aisle And still no socks (We forgot the socks) (We forgot the socks) Milk, noodles, lamp bulbs But no socks [Verse 2] Jess found a cheap notebook Marcos picked up cat food and gum I saw a stack of running shoes But not a single pair for thumbs We laughed in the parking lot With the receipt like a long white flag Four bags, one case of water And zero socks in the trunk [Pre-Chorus] We had the bread We had the soap We had the candles and the cough drops Right there at the door Then one thing slipped [Chorus] We forgot the socks We forgot the socks Every shelf, every aisle And still no socks (We forgot the socks) (We forgot the socks) Milk, noodles, lamp bulbs But no socks [Bridge] Next trip, first stop Straight to the drawer wall No detour through snacks No wandering at all Because a cart can be full And still be wrong If you walk out clean Missing one small thing [Chorus] We forgot the socks We forgot the socks Every shelf, every aisle And still no socks (We forgot the socks) (We forgot the socks) Milk, noodles, lamp bulbs But no socks
