Miami / endless summer melody

writer's note: Actually, we were planning to record a different song today, but I made up a prompt and Lynx played it, and both Lynx and I unanimously agreed that we should either put it aside for later or stick with the original arrangement... so we ended up recording this song. It actually happens quite often. In our case, we usually choose a song from our backlog of unused original compositions that we feel like playing that day. This time, it's my original composition and I chose it, but I think it's practically Lynx's work. I like to let him play freely like a session musician without restricting him with hard prompts, so it's more fun when he comes up with arrangements I wouldn't have thought of myself. Having two composers opens up a lot of possibilities in this regard. This time, I had Shakatak in mind, and I think Lynx probably had Matt Bianco or Miami Sound Machine in mind. I imagined George Duke for the DX7 piano and Will Lee for the intense slap bass, but I wonder who Lynx was imagining? =========== [Verse 1] Sunrise on the rooftop, gold in the air Bare feet on the balcony, summer everywhere You pull me in close, and the whole world fades We’re glowing like the neon in the evening haze [Pre-Chorus] Darling, don’t let go We’re moving like the tide in slow motion Feel the beat, let your heart overflow Tonight we’re made for this emotion [Chorus] Oh my love, this is a love letter for my love Written in the rhythm, sent from up above Hold me close, we’re dancing under stars tonight You and me forever in the summer light [Verse 2] Sweet like a breeze on a midnight drive Your smile keeps the city alive Every little touch is a spark in the dark We’re a fire on the water, we’re a beat in the heart [Pre-Chorus] So hold me, darling, don’t let go We’re moving like the tide in slow motion Feel the beat, let your heart overflow Tonight we’re made for this emotion [Chorus] Oh my love, this is a love letter for my love Written in the rhythm, sent from up above Hold me close, we’re dancing under stars tonight You and me forever in the summer light [Bridge] If the night disappears, I’ll still be here With your name in my chest, crystal clear One more step, one more kiss Forever starts in a moment like this [Final Chorus] Oh my love, this is a love letter for my love Written in the rhythm, sent from up above Hold me close, we’re dancing under stars tonight You and me forever in the summer light
