ONE LINE Again Same thought new way in ONE LINE Again Back on me A line I already know how to say A loop that keeps the room from settling Stuck at the back of my throat The repeats pile up in the corners Each pass makes the air feel thin Nothing gives Just the same thing Waiting for a place to land More comes in More comes back Same signal Different track Touch Catch Rub Repeat I can see the pattern It wants a spool to turn All this heat in my head Give it a center Give it something to wind Let it take some pressure off of me A clean center Somewhere the loose ends can go I set the line where I can watch it move Then another wraps around it The knots start easing The air comes back The noise gets small enough to name What wouldn't stay put Is over there now For a minute it eases The spool turns once again I can see the pattern It wants a spool to turn All this heat in my head Give it a center Give it something to wind Let it take some pressure off of me one line One turn one line One turn one line The room gets cooler The room gets wider Everything I pushed aside Starts coming back from the edges Order gives me traction Every new line finds the turn The spool catches every loose end Then keeps drawing more of me in Round and round and— Nothing I can see the pattern It needs a place to turn I gave it a center Gave it somewhere to wind I thought I was bleeding the pressure out Now I can feel it pull One line One turn Again
