[INTRO — Spoken over soft piano and brushed drums] Ladies and gentlemen... Life is a funny old road. Sometimes it's smooth... sometimes it's rough... But whatever happens... The road keeps rolling! [BIG BAND HIT — BA-DA-DAAA!] [VERSE 1 — Male Lead] I woke up this morning, heard the rain upon the pane, Put on my old hat and stepped out in the rain, I've had a few troubles, I've had one or two, But I've got a whole lot of living left to do! I've taken some wrong turns, I've stumbled and fell, I've walked through the darkness, through heaven and hell, But every old highway, each bend and each turn, Has taught me a lesson the hard way to learn! [BRASS STAB — DAH! DAH!] [CHORUS — FULL BAND] Let the road keep rolling! (Keep it rolling!) Let the wild wind blow! (Blow, boys, blow!) There's a thousand miles of places That I've still got left to go! When the night gets darker, I'll follow that star, You don't have to know Where you're going to know where you are! [FEMALE/BACKING VOCALS] Keep on rolling! Keep on moving! Keep that old road rolling on! [MALE LEAD] Life is a journey, nobody knows Where the river will take you Or how far it flows! [FULL BAND] So keep on walking wherever it goes— LET THE ROAD KEEP ROLLING! [BIG BAND HIT] BA-DA-DA-DAAA! --- [VERSE 2 — Male Lead, Swinging] I've met some strangers who've become my friends, I've seen broken hearts somehow learn how to mend, I've danced through the midnight, I've laughed through the day, And I've learned that the best things won't come if you wait! There's laughter in the kitchen, there's music outside, There's somebody shouting, "Come on, take a ride!" So grab your old suitcase, Put your troubles away, We've got a brand-new adventure Waiting today! [BRASS — SHORT PUNCHES] Ba-da! Ba-da! Ba-da-da-daa! --- [CHORUS — BIG, FULL SWING] Let the road keep rolling! (Keep it rolling!) Let the wild wind blow! (Blow, boys, blow!) There's a thousand miles of places That I've still got left to go! When the night gets darker, I'll follow that star, And if I lose my way, I'll just follow where you are! [BACKING VOCALS] Keep on rolling! Keep on swinging! Keep that old road rolling on! [MALE LEAD] Life is a journey, nobody knows Where the river will take you Or how far it flows! [FULL BAND] So keep on walking wherever it goes— LET THE ROAD KEEP ROLLING! --- [BRIDGE — QUIET, ROMANTIC SWING] [Piano + Bass + Brushes] If I stumble... [Female backing] Get back up... If I lose my way... [Female backing] Find your way... If tomorrow brings another fight, I'll carry my hope through the darkest night. [Tenor Sax rises] And when that morning sun Comes shining through, I'll raise my glass and say: [MALE LEAD] "Here's to life... And everything we're gonna do!" [BAND EXPLODES BACK IN] --- FINAL CHORUS [FULL BIG BAND — FAST SWING] LET THE ROAD KEEP ROLLING! (Keep it rolling!) LET THE WILD WIND BLOW! (Blow! Blow! Blow!)
