The End of Forever (Betsy Kline 9/10)
I found some old photographs Of back when we were wed. And so I was reminded of The things that we both said. Plans for the future and All the promises we made, The hopes and dreams and wishes and All the silly games we played. Do you tell her that you love her With the words I used to hear? Do you take her hand and hold it tight And wipe away her tear? Does she bring you morning coffee Or does she just drink tea? And when you kiss her on the lips at night Do you ever think of me? You promised me forever. You said you would be true. You told me that our love would last. And see our troubles through. Well forever has ended. It's gone without a trace. And when I look around the room I just see empty space. Now and then a posted letter arrives And it's addressed to you. I don't know where you're living now Or where to send it to. I emptied out the garden shed And boxed up all your tools. I gave it to the Sally Ann To sell to other women's fools. I cut up all those photographs Like you did with my heart. I'm trying to move on these days, To have a fresh new start. This coming Monday morning I'll be throwing out your things. And you should know I'm selling Both these phony diamond rings. You promised me forever. You said you would be true. You told me that our love would last. And see our troubles through. Well forever has ended. It's gone without a trace. And when I look around the room I just see empty space. Forever has ended. It's gone without a trace. And when I look around the room I just see empty space. [acoustic guitar fades out]
