Carry the Weight

This ain't pity. This is family. Scripture says bear one another's burdens. So we're asking you to help us carry hers. Cancer came quiet, then shattered the calm One word in a room put the fear in our palms Plans in suspension, appointments get penciled Surgery circled, every normal thing canceled Kitti's got lung cancer, breath by breath Trying to stare down the fear without staring at death Bills in the mailbox, miles on the dash Medicine, meals, and the numbers add fast People say "stay strong" like strength doesn't bend Like faith means you never get scared of the end But faith ain't denial, it kneels in the ache Still trusting the Shepherd when knees start to shake The lights stay due, and the groceries don't wait So while she fights cancer, we're carrying weight Not asking for pity, not selling you pain Just asking God's people to stand in the rain We can't take the fear away Can't fight what's happening inside But we can bear each other's burdens And trust the One who stays beside Help us carry the weight Help her keep fighting another day Every prayer, every share Every little gift says somebody cares When the road gets heavy We don't leave our people alone Help us carry the weight And trust God with the road She's more than a picture, a link, or a name More than a number beside a campaign She's somebody's mother, somebody's friend And little Ivy needs her for years at the end Ivy's only two, still learning this life Too young to know what we're fighting tonight She just knows Grandma, the hugs and the smiles Not waiting rooms, surgeries, numbers, or files She deserves birthdays, stories, and years A thousand small memories untouched by this fear And Kitti deserves every chance she can get More mornings with Ivy she hasn't lived yet Maybe cancer already carved through your home So you know how a family can feel so alone Faith doesn't promise the storm disappears It gives us a Rock when we're drowning in fear We don't know the outcome, we know who Christ is And mercy gets practical when somebody gives Galatians told us to shoulder the load So we're putting that Scripture to work on this road We don't know what tomorrow brings But we know Who is already there When our hands can't change the answer We can still fold them in prayer Help us carry the weight Help her keep fighting another day Every prayer, every share Every little gift says somebody cares When the road gets heavy We don't leave our people alone Help us carry the weight And trust God with the road If five is what you have, then five is enough If money is tight, then a share means love A click might travel where our reach can't go To somebody blessed with a little bit more No scoreboard, no glory, no names in lights Just neighbors being neighbors on a hard night Maybe your part is a prayer before bed Maybe your part puts some gas in the tank Maybe it covers a meal that week While she saves every ounce of her strength to breathe That's how a burden gets lighter in pieces One hand, then another, till pressure releases Let doctors do what their training can do Let family stay close and keep seeing her through We'll ask the Great Physician for mercy and grace And do what we can in the meantime—carry the weight Through the valley, He is with us Through the waiting, He is near Through the surgery, through the questions Christ is greater than our fear And somewhere little Ivy's growing Too young to understand this road So we're praying Grandma's there beside her For all the years still left to hold Help us carry the weight Help her keep fighting another day Every prayer, every share Every little gift says somebody cares When the road gets heavy We don't leave our people alone Help us carry the weight And trust God with the road May He strengthen her heart May He cover her with peace May His mercy surround her When her own strength gets weak Help us carry the weight For Kitti, for her family For Ivy And for all the memories Still waiting to be made
