TIMEWALKER - Mythago Wood

Inspired by Mythago Wood, this song tells the story of a father who disappears into a mysterious forest that seems larger on the inside than it is in the real world. Drawn by something he cannot resist, George Huxley leaves his family behind, slowly losing himself to the ancient myths hidden deep within the woods. Told from the perspective of his son, Steven Huxley, the song captures the feeling of watching someone you love fade into something unknown. In this forest, memories and legends take shape, and those who enter may never return the same—if they return at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Verse 1 He stood by the doorway, didn’t say a word Just the sound of the trees… like something he heard Mother was crying, I stayed in the hall He looked through me… like I wasn’t there at all There was something calling from deeper inside A place in the forest where shadows don’t hide Pre-Chorus I said “don’t go”… but he didn’t turn Like the dark already had him burned Chorus Don’t go into the wood tonight There’s something there that steals the light It knows your name… it calls you in You won’t come back the way you’ve been Don’t follow voices in the trees They’re not the truth… they’re memories If you cross that line, you disappear And leave us standing here Verse 2 Days turned to silence, your chair still there Dust in the sunlight, your ghost in the air I hear you walking when night falls down Footsteps fading… deeper underground They say the forest gives what you need But takes your soul… and plants a seed Pre-Chorus I see your face in every flame But every time… it’s not the same Chorus Don’t go into the wood tonight There’s something there that steals the light It wears your face… it pulls you in And makes you what you’ve always been Don’t follow voices in the trees They twist your past… your memories If I call your name, will you appear? Or was I never here? Bridge (minimal, emotional) If I go… will I find you there? Or just a shadow wearing your stare? If I call… will you say my name? Or am I just… part of the game? Final Chorus (bigger, cinematic) Don’t go into the wood tonight There’s something there beyond the light It shapes your love… it feeds your fear And makes you someone else in here Don’t follow voices in the trees They’re made of loss… and memories If I step inside… will I become The thing that you’ve become? Outro (soft, fading) I hear you call me… from the trees…
