We meet a lot of people Getting from there to here. Some stay five minutes... Some stay fifty years. Back-row desks and borrowed pens, Swore we'd always stay good friends. Some disappeared, some stayed around, Funny who still knows you now. Then came work boots, morning drives, Long weeks just trying to get by. People you met because of a job Become the ones you count on. Some walk in, Some walk out. Time has a way Of sorting it out. Pull up a chair If you came to stay. Bring what you've got, Don't take it away. Love earns a place... And keeps it there. Keep the ones who tell you straight, Still show up when you're not great. Who know you're hurting before you say, And don't disappear when life gets strange. You don't need everybody near... Just the ones Who are really here. Then there are names we've carried for years, Through birthdays, weddings, laughter and tears. Some leave warmth, some leave a mark, Some slowly fade into the dark. I don't need a war, I don't need revenge. I don't have to hate you To know where something ends. I can hear the echo Without turning back. Leave what doesn't belong Right where I left it. Love them? Sure. Miss them? Maybe. Hearing an echo Doesn't mean you answer. Keep the ones who tell the truth, Who make a little room for you. Who let you change, who let you grow, Who don't keep count of what you owe. Life gets clearer through the years... You learn who's really here. Let the echoes talk. They don't need a reply. Some people leave your life Before they leave your mind. No fight. No speech. Just... Not this time. From schoolyard halls To working nights, From younger days To older lives... We meet a thousand people Along the way. Some leave laughter. Some leave scars. And some just sit beside us... And stay. Pull up a chair If you came to stay. Bring what you've got, Don't take it away. Love earns a place... And keeps it there. Keep the ones who tell you straight, Who don't disappear when life gets late. Who make some room for all of you, And never keep a score of what you do. You don't need everybody there. A good life isn't measured By how many people came... It's who was still beside you When nobody had anything to gain. Some stay five minutes... Some stay fifty years. You learn which voices still belong... And which ones You can let disappear.
