The Mirror Calls Me a Liar
Intro / Night Mood (instrumental, slow) I’m sitting at my screen deep in the night. My head only settles when the world goes quiet. The clock hits four, and I’m still right here. Verse 1 I’m burning inside, full of hate, fear, and silent tears. Worry, fear, and anger are the only things that keep my mind amused. Scars on my body, scars in my head, I bled a lot — just never enough. Tsk… fooled myself again. Chorus 1 I wish I wasn’t here. But the mirror says: liar. And I know this is exactly where I belong. Verse 2 I lie to myself when I look in the glass, tell myself I’m fine, yeah, everything’s okay. Still I wish I was somewhere else. Inside I write letters I’ll never send. Again I wish I wasn’t here. Not here — not in this prison I call my life. Chorus 2 (Variation) The mirror calls me a liar. I know I belong right here. But I ask my reflection: So what do you want from me? Bridge I run from myself, follow my fear down a road to nowhere. The ghost in the mirror laughs at me. I clench my fist — the mirror shatters, but I know it’s just my mind telling stories again. Final Chorus I look at myself in the mirror, smile at the mess — everybody knows: there’s no answer waiting. And again I wish I was somewhere, anywhere but here. Outro / Leave the Mirror Open The mirror shows my back now. My footsteps are quiet, heading for the door. I hear the mirror ask one last thing: “Where do you wish you were?” There’s no answer. I just close the door behind me.
