The Line of the Coyote (Remastered)
Verse 1 – The Ancient Path Before the coyote walked the plains, before its haunting cry, Ancient canids crossed the Earth beneath the changing sky. From distant roots and branching lines, through ages long ago, A smaller hunter found its path where winds and grasslands blow. Verse 2 – A Branch Apart From ancient canid family, new hunting lines arose, Some followed frozen northern trails, while others sought the open roads. Through changing lands and shifting seas, the branches split and grew, And one small lineage would become the coyote we now knew. Verse 3 – The First Coyotes Across the ancient western lands, the early coyotes spread, With slender forms and watchful eyes and paths that lay ahead. Not built like giant hunters, nor shaped to bring down prey, They learned to live by speed and wit and find a different way. Verse 4 – The Prairie Hunter Across the open grasslands where the endless breezes ran, The coyote learned the prairie and the rhythm of the land. It hunted mice and rabbits, birds and creatures small, And where the mighty hunters failed, its clever ways stood tall. Verse 5 – The Coyote's Cry Beneath the rising moonlight, across the hills and plain, A distant voice would echo through the darkness once again. The yipping and the howling became its ancient song, A call to kin and warning cry that carried far and long. Verse 6 – The Changing World As forests turned to farmland and the old wildlands were changed, The coyote did not disappear when human borders came. It learned the roads and fields and towns, the edges of our world, And where the wilderness grew smaller, the coyote still endured. Verse 7 – The Coyote's Range From desert heat to mountain snow, from prairie wide and free, The coyote spread across the lands with remarkable agility. It followed rivers, valleys, plains, wherever food could be found, A survivor of the changing Earth, still roaming all around. Verse 8 – The Endless Line So raise your eyes beneath the stars where silent grasslands lie, And listen for the coyote's call that rises to the sky. From ancient canid roots of old through every age and time, The coyote's line still carries on, a living, winding line. From common roots to its own road, through wilderness and town, The coyote still walks the Earth where countless years have gone. A hunter shaped by changing lands, resilient, wild, and free— The Line of Coyote lives on beneath the ancient sky.
