God Loves the Prodigal

[Verse 1] You ran with pockets full of dust Took the long road just because You wore your shame like a second skin Thought you’d never walk back in Spent your days in a borrowed shame Heard your name like a broken chain But even at your farthest mile Love was waiting with open eyes [Pre-Chorus] And when the night got loud You heard mercy call Not a door shut down But a Father in the hall [Chorus] God loves the prodigal God loves the prodigal Out in the fields, back through the fall God loves the prodigal God runs to the prodigal God runs to the prodigal You were lost, but you were called God loves the prodigal [Verse 2] Shoes still caked with the road you chose Hands held out, head bowed low You rehearsed the words on the way But grace was faster than your shame He put a ring on your trembling hand Pulled you close where the healing stands No lecture in the father's breath Just a kiss that undid death [Pre-Chorus] And when the house grew bright You thought you’d be turned away But the whole thing changed When He said your name [Chorus] God loves the prodigal God loves the prodigal Out in the fields, back through the fall God loves the prodigal God runs to the prodigal God runs to the prodigal You were lost, but you were called God loves the prodigal [Bridge] Come on home The table's still set Come on home There is mercy left You don’t have to earn What love has done He’s still your Father And you’re still His son [Chorus] God loves the prodigal God loves the prodigal Out in the fields, back through the fall God loves the prodigal God runs to the prodigal God runs to the prodigal You were lost, but you were called God loves the prodigal [Outro] So come on home Come on home God loves the prodigal God loves the prodigal
