[Female – soft modern pop] They started pure in the tall glass vase Soft red heads leaning toward the light I watered them every single morning Spoke to them like they might reply Then the arguments got louder The nights got longer and the silence grew I watched the water turn a different color And the petals started looking bruised [Male – rising rock] I never meant to crush the stems But my hands were never gentle enough Every time I reached to hold the beauty I left another mark that wouldn’t wash off [Both – building hard] Blood soaked roses Blood soaked roses Beautiful and ruined in the same breath Blood soaked roses Blood soaked roses Love that stains everything it leaves [Female] I tried to rearrange them carefully Turn the damaged side against the wall But the red kept spreading through the water And the scent turned heavier than before You said it was still the same bouquet I said the color had already changed We stood there staring at the evidence Of every word we couldn’t take back [Male – full rock force] I felt the thorns go deeper every night Felt the soft parts turning into scars You kept calling it a living thing I kept watching it drown in what we are [Both – massive chorus] Blood soaked roses Blood soaked roses Beautiful and ruined in the same breath Blood soaked roses Blood soaked roses Love that stains everything it leaves [Female – quiet bridge] I still can’t throw them out Even though the water’s dark Even though the petals drop Like soft red warnings on the floor [Male] I still can’t look away From the proof of what we do Every time we try to love We paint the purest things in red [Both – final explosive chorus with layered vocals] Blood soaked roses Blood soaked roses Beautiful and ruined in the same breath Blood soaked roses Blood soaked roses Love that stains everything it leaves Blood soaked roses Still standing in the center of the room Blood soaked roses And neither of us can leave them behind [Outro – female and male overlapping softly] Blood soaked roses… (Still blooming in the dark) Blood soaked roses…
