Full Lyrics: (Soft finger‑pick opens) Verse 1 There’s a faint dark mark on the gum‑tree trunk Where the flood‑waters rose and the current sunk High up the bank where the grass got swept Where the creek ran wild and the rivers leapt Now the water’s down and the mud dries slow New green shoots start where the currents go We leave the mark but we move along Learn the song the river’s sung so long Verse 2 Old timers point where the waters climbed Say “We thought it’d never leave this time” Lost some fences, lost some stock But kept their hope when the rain wouldn’t stop When the sky clears up and the sun comes out You see the land start to turn about Scars remain but the life returns Every season teaches what the land has learned Pre‑Chorus Flood‑line mark — a line in the bark Flood‑line mark — a story left dark then bright We rise after the rain, we heal after the storm Keep our place where the river’s born Chorus (soft, lifting): Flood‑line mark — high upon the tree! Flood‑line mark — what the river showed to me! Flood‑line mark — memory of the rain! Flood‑line mark — life comes back again! Flood‑line mark — high upon the tree! Flood‑line mark — what the river showed to me! Flood‑line mark — memory of the rain! Flood‑line mark — life comes back again! (Fade: quiet guitar + soft water sound)
