Verse 1 This old man Smurf, is my son, Idling away till day is done. Doesn't have a place to be, Just takes his time and lives life free Coffee doesn't give him pep, It only makes him take a step Back to his chair, that's where he's found Settling in with creaky sounds Verse 2 Grey and silver take their place, Growing whiskers round his face. Specs are slipping down his nose, As off to sleepy land he goes. Falls asleep upon the lounge, While the television sounds. Droning softly in the back, Keeping him upon his rack. Verse 3 Snuffling deep within his sleep, Down where all the dreamers creep. 'Cause snoring loud would wake him up, So he just snores into his cup. Resting gently on his chest, Rising, falling with each breath. There he'll stay until it's time, To wake and face the world outside. Chorus Sleep Smurf, Sleep well, Day is gone, Night has fell. Drift away On silver beams, Finding life Within your dreams. Sleep Smurf, Sleep well. Verse 4 Where do all your thoughts go When you drift away below? Off somewhere, way down deep, To all the memories that you keep. Shuffling down old memory's lane, Through the sunshine, through the rain. Places gone and things once seen, Days that were and might have been. Bridge Time moves on and things will change, Nothing ever stays the same. But for now you're safe and warm, Sheltered from the outside storm. Let the dreaming take you far, Past the moon and every star. Final Chorus Sleep Smurf, Sleep well, Day is gone, Night has fell. Drift away On silver beams, Finding life Within your dreams. Sleep Smurf, Sleep well. Sleep Smurf, Close your eyes, Let your dreams Go drifting by. Rest your head And drift away, We'll find you here Another day. Sleep Smurf, Sleep well.
