I Want My Pub!
Our pubs are in danger, can you not see it? The heartbeat of Britain is fading away (fading away) They’re more than just two pints of lager and a packet of crisps (please) They’re holding this cunt-ry together every day They bring people together, rich, poor, young and old Local economies breathing because of that bar They keep our culture alive in every town and city (every town and city) Without them we’re losing who the hell we are Pubs are the heartbeat, the soul of this land (our land) Where we celebrate, commiserate, laugh and cry The natural meeting point for every British soul A place of shelter and company, you and I The kids behind the bar learn real work ethic Social skills you can’t teach in any classroom Pulling pints, talking shit, learning life as it is (as it is) That’s where proper Britain gets built, not in some bored room They’re where we argue, where we make up, where we feel alive The glue that holds communities tight (together) And they’re closing down fast while you know who don't care It’s time we stood up and put this right (put this right) I want my pub! They’re the heartbeat of Britain! The place we come together when times are hard Restore the soul of every town and city Northern woman’s saying it loud – protect our pubs, protect our heart! Restore the soul of every town and city Restore the soul of every town and city Restore the soul of every town and city
