The Watchers
[Verse 1 – soft piano] Is there anybody there? I cried To the moonlit wooden door My voice was all that answered me As shadows danced the floor My horse, he stirred the silent night While stars hung cold and far And still I knocked, and begged the dark Is anybody there? ⸻ [Chorus – drums rise, distorted guitar enters] But no one came, no light was shown No voice to ease the fear Only watchers in the silence That I could feel — but not see clear They stood within the stillness Between the breath and sound And though I called into the void No soul came down ⸻ [Verse 2 – piano returns, violin swells] The leaves were still, the windows closed No face in moonlight pale Yet something moved behind the walls Like echoes from a tale The stair was draped in silver dust That led to halls unknown I felt the weight of phantom eyes Though I stood alone ⸻ [Chorus – stronger, with layered harmonies] But no one came, no light was shown No whisper in the air Only ghostly, unseen listeners That knew I’d once been there I spoke my vow into the dark My voice became my plea Tell them I came, and kept my word Though none came down to me ⸻ [Bridge – quiet, ambient cello, vocals nearly a whisper] They heard my words They heard my steps The stirrup creak, the turning reins The final breath before I left Still they stood, and still remained ⸻ [Final Chorus – soaring, tragic] And no one came, the silence screamed The stillness held me fast The ones who heard me never spoke But watched me as I passed Their presence filled the emptiness Like ghosts forever drawn And when I left, the silence surged When my shadow… was gone
