Full English Lyrics [Immediate Folk Rock Opening] Heavy drums, deep bass, rhythmic guitars, tagelharpa and distant working chants Village Choir: Hey! Lift the beam! Set the stone! Build again! [Verse 1 – The Story Begins] I walked beneath the broken gate, Where silence filled the square, The roofs were gone, the well was cold, And ash lay everywhere. My father’s hall had lost its walls, The fields were hard and bare, But by the shore, beside the boats, My wife was waiting there. She took my hand and faced the ruins, No fear within her eyes, “We still have hands, we still have names, And morning in the skies.” [Chorus] Where the hammers sound, we are living, Where the hammers sound, we belong. Every stone that we carry together Makes the broken village strong. Let the children hear the timber, Let the old ones gather round. We will build our lives together Where the hammers sound. [Verse 2 – The Challenge] The winter winds returned too soon, The grain was running low, The youngest cried beneath the furs As ice began to grow. One night the eastern roof gave way, The snow came pouring through, But every door across the shore Opened before we knew. The smith brought nails, the fisher rope, The queen sent oak and grain, And through the dark we raised the roof Above our home again. [Chorus] Where the hammers sound, we are living, Where the hammers sound, we belong. Every stone that we carry together Makes the broken village strong. Let the children hear the timber, Let the old ones gather round. We will build our lives together Where the hammers sound. [Story Section – Spoken and Sung] The instruments soften to tagelharpa, acoustic strings and deep frame drums. Male Spoken Voice: At first, we counted everything we had lost: Seven homes, three boats, the harvest hall And the names carved above the gate. Then the children stopped counting ruins. They counted new doors. New tables. New sails upon the water. Male Sung Voice: My daughter carved a wooden bird And placed it by our door. “My home will know that I was here, When I am old,” she swore. The village laughed for the first time, The sound crossed field and foam. And in that moment, every heart Remembered it was home. [Instrumental Folk and Guitar Section] Nyckelharpa leads the melody, answered by flutes and tagelharpa. Heavy melodic guitars enter, followed by pounding drums, horns and rhythmic hammer sounds. Village Choir: Stone by stone! Beam by beam! Hand in hand! Build the dream! [Bridge] We are more than walls and timber, More than banners, boats and land. We are every hand that reaches For another weary hand. When the cold returns to test us, When the longest shadows fall, We will gather in the doorway, And make room enough for all. [Final Chorus – Full Choir] Where the hammers sound, we are living, Where the hammers sound, we belong. Every stone that we carry together Makes the broken village strong. Let the children hear the timber, Let the old ones gather round. We have built our lives together Where the hammers sound. Full Choir: Where the hammers sound! We are living! Where the hammers sound! We belong! Through the winter, through the sorrow, We have claimed tomorrow’s ground. Midgard stands because we built it Where the hammers sound! [Outro] Heavy guitars and drums gradually give way to acoustic strings, tagelharpa and distant hammer strikes. Male Voice: The gate now bears our names again, The harbor lanterns glow. And every child who wakes within Will hear and always know: A home is not the wood we raise, Nor soil beneath our feet. A home is every hand that works So every heart can beat. Distant Choir: Where the hammers sound… We belong… Three final hammer strikes followed by one deep drum hit.
