HARSH REALITY (Production Note: Spoken-word elements set against a minimalist, ambient keys intro. Soul-trap drums kick in on the Pre-Chorus, building to a rich, gospel-infused arrangement with organ, heavy bass, and layered harmonies as the song shifts toward the Bridge and Outro.) (Intro) (Soft piano chords, atmospheric pads, heavy rain or room ambience) (Spoken / Raw, intimate vocal) As I sit back and I contemplate... The questions that they ask when you go to the ER: "Have you ever thought about harming yourself or committing suicide?" I'm not going to sit here and lie. I'm just going to keep it real... It's just a harsh reality that I've had that thought. (Verse 1) (Tempo settles into a slow beat, subtle kick and snare) As I sit back and I contemplate The questions that they ask when you go to the ER: "Have you ever thought about harming yourself or committing suicide?" I'm not going to sit here and lie, I'm just going to keep it real... It's just a harsh reality that I've had that thought. (Pre-Chorus) (Soul-trap beat drops with heavy low-end bass) Because when the pain gets too unbearable, And the weight is just too hard to carry, Sometimes you just feel like giving up, Feeling like throwing in the towel. (Chorus) (Full beat with backing vocal stacks) This is my harsh reality, The price of having purpose on my life. Standing in the dark while I’m fighting for the light, Unfiltered, raw, no room left to hide, Facing the heavy storms that rage deep inside. Yeah, this is my harsh reality. (Verse 2) (Rhythmic flow, organ swells enter on key lines) When decisions begin to become hard to make, And it feels like every step that you take was a mistake, You often question if you've been living right, And are you living in purpose in God's sight? I can stay negative, or I can keep it positive, But the one thing I must do is keep it real, Tell everyone the truth, And give them my harsh realities. (Bridge - The Testimony) (Drums drop out; lead vocal front and center over gospel keys and bass) To be honest, so you understand... If it wasn't for God's grace, And the brand new mercies that He grants me every single day, I would have given up a long time ago. But when He shows you vision and it gives you purpose, You choose to stand your ground, And live through your harsh realities. (Transition Bridge - The Shift) (Music swells, key shift up, full gospel choir/vocal harmonies layered behind lead) The dark tried to swallow me, but the light broke through! Every single trial was making me new! I’m stepping out the shadows, taking back my breath, Choosing life over darkness, choosing hope over death! The weight was heavy, but the grace was strong— This is where the turning point was all along! (Chorus - Final Surge) (Maximum energy, driving beat, full instrumentation and choir backing) This is my harsh reality, The price of having purpose on my life. Standing in the dark, but I conquered the night, Unfiltered, raw, standing in the light! Facing the heavy storms that raged deep inside, Yeah, this is my harsh reality— And I’m walking in the purpose on my life! (Outro / Vamp Chant) (Beat breaks down to heavy bass, kick drum, and clapping; vocal dynamic shifts to a rhythmic chant with background ad-libs) Harsh reality. Harsh reality. This is my harsh reality. Harsh reality... (Lead vocal breakdown, powerful and direct) But it don't define who I am. But it is my harsh reality. (Fade out over background vocal harmonies) Yeah, I stand through it. I live through it. It don't define me. Harsh reality... but I'm still standing.
