2. YOU CAN’T BUILD A FAMILY IN A FIRE
[Verse 1] You picked out curtains while the kitchen burned, talked about children before lessons were learned. Love is furniture, sex is a room, friendship’s the doorway— but the foundation decides what survives the boom. [Chorus] You can’t build a family in a fire, can’t raise a roof while the flames climb higher. Go grow—not for me, not to win me someday, grow because adulthood isn’t something you say. You wanted Heaven with Hell on the lease, wanted a family without learning peace. Too much pressure and the steel gives way— even bridges have limits to the weight they can take. [Verse 2] Everybody grows—I still have growing to do, forty-three doesn’t make every judgment come true. Age isn’t wisdom automatically earned; a candle gets older whether or not it gets burned. Become someone whose promises have weight, someone who hears “no” without turning it to hate. A man isn’t measured by getting his way— sometimes strength is hearing the answer and surviving the day.
