If you seek the riches of the earth, 'Twas better you had sought them before birth. Should your heart be set upon the dust, Then go upon your way, do as you must. But if it is wisdom for which you have yearned, Then come, I will tell you of the lessons I've learned, The lessons I've learned, the lessons I've learned. Make no search for water, but find thirst, And water from the very ground will burst. Seek ye not for treasure, but give all, And treasure from the very skies will fall. Seek in all that is spoken, the words that are silent, And in everything visible, the meaning unseen, The meaning unseen, the meaning unseen. Do not long for love, but give your heart, And so will love surround you from the start. Do not cling to life but give it up; The waters of true life will fill your cup. Seek in all that is worldly, that which is transcendent, And in all that is present, that which may have been, that which could have been, that which will have been.
