# Kia Orana (Part II: Customs, Currents & Coming Home)

V5.5

## [Verse 1] Morning charts around the table, Captain Mark would grin, "crew to your stations!" let another day begin. everyone, stand ready! Time to cast away once more, Every harbor drew us onward to another waiting shore. --- ## [Chorus] **Lead:** Heave away, Kia Orana! **Crew:** HEAVE AWAY! HEAVE AWAY! **Lead:** Wind today? **Crew:** MAYBE LATER! **Lead:** Cheese today? **Crew:** ABSOLUTELY! **Lead:** Coffee? **Crew:** ALREADY BREWING! **All:** Keep us off the dreaded lee, And mind that tugboat, please! --- ## [Verse 2] Towhead's currents pulled and twisted, Rosario gave chase, Cypress Passage tested every steady sailor's grace. Birgit calmly held the helm while whirlpools did their dance, Making tricky navigation look completely left to chance. Docking turned to poetry, smoother every day, Starboard became second nature... don't ask the other way! Captain Mark taught knots with patience every passing tide, While Teri, Barb and Steve all took their turns with steady pride. --- ## [Chorus] **Lead:** Current report? **Crew:** EXCITING! **Lead:** Captain's mood? **Crew:** IMPROVING! **Lead:** Crew morale? **Crew:** FULLY CAFFEINATED! **All:** Keep us off the dreaded lee... The cheese still stands victorious! --- ## [Verse 3] Whales appeared, we stopped to watch their mighty tails arise, Instead we found authorities regarding us with eyes. Canadian officers climbed aboard with CBD in mind, While Barb made friends before they'd even finished asking why. Tania greeted customs with a word she'd not intended, The sentence left her mouth before good judgment had amended. A coffee mug went surfing from a ferry's rolling wake, And every single sailor laughed until their sides would ache. --- ## [Chorus] **Lead:** Customs cleared? **Crew:** EVENTUALLY! **Lead:** Whales spotted? **Crew:** AYE! **Lead:** Arrested? **Crew:** NOT TODAY! **All:** Keep us off the dreaded lee... We're innocent... mostly! --- ## [Verse 4] Saturday markets, Ganges strolls and treasures by the score, Maple Bay brought ice cream dreams and desserts we'd all adore. Blind Bay wrapped us quietly with books in every hand, While Tania searched each tidepool for creatures tiny, strange and grand. Sea lions barked, gray whales waved tails, the San Juans rolled along, Every mile collected yet another verse and song. The head declared its presence from the first day to the last, "Don't clog the pipes!" the captain warned, "Or you'll regret it fast!" A ferry wake soaked Birgit through from shoulders to her toes, "I think I'll go and change," she smiled... The driest joke she chose. --- ## [Grand Finale] **Lead:** Heave away, Kia Orana! **Crew:** HEAVE AWAY! HEAVE AWAY! **Lead:** Did we find adventure? **Crew:** AYE!! **Lead:** Did we eat the cheese? **Crew:** NOT EVEN CLOSE!! **Lead:** Did we drink the coffee? **Crew:** EVERY LAST DROP!! **Lead:** Did customs find the CBD? **Crew:** NOPE!! **Lead:** Did Barb make new friends? **Crew:** OF COURSE SHE DID!! **Lead:** Did the wind ever show up? **Crew:** ...EVENTUALLY!! **Lead:** Would we sail again tomorrow? **Crew:** CAST OFF THE LINES!! **All:** From Bellingham through every bay, Where whales and sea lions roam, The finest part wasn't where we sailed... **It was laughing all the way home!** --- ### [Final Tag] **Lead:** ONE MORE QUESTION! **Crew:** WHAT'S THAT? **Lead:** How much cheese is left? **Crew:** ALL OF IT!! **Lead:** And coffee? **Crew:** BETTER MAKE ANOTHER POT!! *(Crew laughter, table pounding, fiddle races to the finish.)*
