SONG NOTES
This was another experiment with the old vs new personas.

This version features the male vocal in my original legacy persona.

In this version, I used the legacy persona. You’ll note that this is the new style I prompted for. To get the same (or close enough) male vocal as I had in Dreaming of Better Days, I used the same vocal prompt from that song in the style prompt. When I left it out, I did get the male vocal - but only in a few lines of the song. The rest of the song was sung by a female R&B vocalist (who was really good, honestly, and it made a very nice duet version).

The vocals aren’t exactly the same voice, but because I prompted for a specific vocal range and how to achieve the dynamics between various sections of the song, Suno approximated the sound of the original vocal. It also gave me dynamic backup singers, which the new persona failed to do.

The legacy persona also matched the new style I prompted for much better than the new persona did.

Over all, I find the legacy persona superior with a better sound and vocal dynamic than the new persona. The new persona does match the original vocal better, but fails in everything else, including a dynamic performance.

Check out the duet version if you like this one. The legacy vocal is still part of that one, but Suno picked a female R&B singer as the lead since I didn’t put the male vocalist in the new style prompt nor picked male on the vocal gender in advanced options.

SONG LYRICS
[Intro]
[instrumental]

[Verse 1]
Snow on the sidewalk
Steam from a paper cup
Neighbors in doorways
Laughing as they bundle up
Candles in windows
Glowing on the glass
Soon all of this hurry
Will finally start to pass

[Pre-Chorus 1]
Here’s to the quiet after the rush
Here’s to the ones we miss so much

[Chorus]
Happy holidays
And a merry new year
May your table be full
May your loved ones be near
Happy holidays
Wherever you are
From the quiet kitchen
To the crowded bar
Raise your voice
Let the good days hear
Happy holidays
And a merry new year

[instrumental segue]

[Verse 2]
Kids on the staircase
Counting every string of lights
Old songs on repeat
Still hitting us just right
Cookies on the counter
Stories in the air
Even if we’re far apart
I feel you everywhere

[Pre-Chorus 2]
Here’s to the calls that run too long
Here’s to the tears behind every song

[Chorus]
Happy holidays
And a merry new year
May your table be full
May your loved ones be near
Happy holidays
Wherever you are
From the quiet kitchen
To the crowded bar
Raise your voice
Let the good days hear
Happy holidays
And a merry new year

[Bridge]
To the ones starting over
To the ones holding on
To the hearts still healing
May your days stay strong
We made it here together
Let the joy draw near
We’re singing out forever
Through another year

[instrumental interlude]

[Pre-Chorus 3]
Here’s to every stranger you greet
Feel like a friend on your street

[Outro]
[instrumental]
