[Verse 1] Above the firs, the trail went thin Stone by stone and mile by mile Boot marks fading in the moss Loki walked it all the while Old rope bridge, one board gone Cold creek talking under ice He’d touch the bark, then look away Like he’d counted loss twice [Pre-Chorus] He carried names he never spoke Like river silt in a sleeve Every switchback held a ghost Every gust made him believe [Chorus] Loki on the old trail Loki, don’t you fall The mountain keeps your silence And it knows you all Loki on the old trail Loki, hear it call What you buried in the valley Still climbs these walls (still climbs these walls) [Verse 2] A rusted nail in a juniper A flask gone green with age He laughed at how the summit view Could fit inside a page There was a time he ran from war There was a time he ran from home Now the peaks just held him steady Like a hand against the bone [Pre-Chorus] He stood where the snowmelt split And watched the black birds turn Some roads return you to yourself Some roads only burn [Chorus] Loki on the old trail Loki, don’t you fall The mountain keeps your silence And it knows you all Loki on the old trail Loki, hear it call What you buried in the valley Still climbs these walls (still climbs these walls) [Bridge] At the ridge, the clouds broke open And the light went pale and slow He saw each version of his face In the rock and drifting snow Not a king, not a thief Just a man with miles to pay He left a prayer in the scree Then kept on anyway [Final Chorus] Loki on the old trail Loki, don’t you fall The mountain keeps your silence And it knows you all Loki on the old trail Loki, hear it call What you buried in the valley Still climbs these walls (still climbs these walls)
