What Really Matters. - Psychedelic Luv-Dub 3

[Title: What Really Matters] [Intro – 8 seconds, melodic dub bass, soft rim clicks, offbeat clean guitar and distant echo] [Verse 1 – Airy soulful female lead, intimate] I used to run through midnight With the sunrise in my eyes Miss a meal, forget the sleeping Still be ready with the light Every bruise was gone by morning Every road was mine to take Father Time was far behind me Or so I thought in those days [Pre-Chorus – Light floating delivery] I thought the clock stood still While I was flying past Youth can make forever Of the things that never last [Chorus – Female lead with featherlight same-voice harmonies] We were racing Father Time Certain he was far behind But the years don’t lose their breath And the hands don’t miss a step When our strength is wearing thin It’s a race we cannot win Then we learn what really matters Love and faith are what remain [Verse 2 – Warm soulful female lead] Now I choose my meals more wisely Take my walks and guard my sleep Every year asks more attention For the strength I hope to keep There are empty chairs at tables There are names I speak in prayer Every goodbye brings the truth home We won’t always gather here [Pre-Chorus – Tender, gradually rising] The work, the house, the shining car All slowly fade away The hearts that God entrusted us Are what matter at the end of every day [Chorus – Airy female lead with soft layered harmonies] We were racing Father Time Certain he was far behind But the years don’t lose their breath And the hands don’t miss a step When our strength is wearing thin It’s a race we cannot win Then we learn what really matters Love and faith are what remain [Dub Break – 4 bars, deep bass, echoing guitar and celestial synthesizer] [Bridge – Intimate, soulful and reverent] Let our children tell their children Where our lasting hope was found Not in titles, not in treasure But in Christ who laid His life down When these bodies fail and falter And we cross the final mile God has more than we imagined Waiting on the other side [Final Chorus – Luminous female lead with gently blooming harmonies] No more racing Father Time Let the years go passing by They may slowly take our breath But in Christ, death does not win When our earthly strength grows thin Life with Him will never end Now we know what really matters Love and faith are what remain [Outro – Female lead, breath-softened and nearly whispered] Father Time keeps running Every moment disappears Love the Lord and love your people For the days He gives us here [Single bass note and soft tape echo fade]
