4. Back to Where We Started

[Verse 1] I saw your name on an old café sign On a street we used to know And for a second I was twenty-five With nowhere else to go We had a car that barely made it home A radio that only played too loud We never had a penny to our names But we thought we owned the town [Pre-Chorus] Maybe life got complicated Maybe we got pulled apart But underneath the years and changes I still know you by heart [Chorus] Let’s go back to where we started Back before we learned to hide When every road was open And you were riding by my side Back when love was something simple And tomorrow felt so far We don’t have to turn the clock back We just have to find the spark Come on, take my hand Let’s go back to where we started [Verse 2] You still laugh before you finish talking You still dance when no one else can see And when you look at me across the kitchen You’re still everything I need We’ve carried more than we imagined We’ve watched a thousand seasons turn But maybe all the things we thought we’d lost Are only waiting to return [Pre-Chorus] We don’t need another lifetime We don’t need a brand-new start We only need to clear the distance That grew between our hearts [Chorus] Let’s go back to where we started Back before we learned to hide When every road was open And you were riding by my side Back when love was something simple And tomorrow felt so far We don’t have to turn the clock back We just have to find the spark Come on, take my hand Let’s go back to where we started [Bridge] Put that old song on the radio Turn it up and let it play Move the table from the kitchen We can dance the years away We may not be the same two people But the feeling never left And maybe growing old together Is the best thing we have done yet [Breakdown] No, we can’t bring back the summer Or the nights beneath the stars But I would choose you all over Exactly as we are [Final Chorus] Let’s go back to where we started With every door still open wide Let the old guitar remind us Of the fire we kept inside Back when love was something simple But now we know how strong we are We don’t have to turn the clock back We never really lost the spark Come on, take my hand There’s no distance left between us Come on, take my hand Let’s go back to where we started [Outro] Back to where we started Exactly as we are
