Underneath the Moonlight § THE MOON
🌕 UNDERNEATH THE MOONLITE 🌕 Aoohoo, ooh, oh, ohh, ohhh! A waxy ball so full, oh, so bright, Watching over all, this harrowing night. Deep in the woods came three shrill cries, As Death walked on through luminous moonlight… Along Death’s trail, a snare lay in its path, Twisted inside was a pale hare, blood spilling from a deep gash. Such a delicate creature, caught in such a vicious trap… With delicate bone-white hands beneath the ghostly forest canopy, Death undid the rusted clamps, And set the terrified hare free. The luminous moon looked down as the hare danced, grateful to be alive, It only looked away once Death revealed happenstance, it hadn’t survived. Its throat draining out the last of its life… ...yet Death does not care, it glides on solemnly... One joyous hare, following, for company... Under the glow of the luminous moonlight, It watches Death embrace the night. Under the shade of the forest canopy, The moon can see, what is meant to be. Death is embracing, Never shaming, Gently, lovingly... Gathering, the rest of its family. In the break of the forest, lay a doe on her side. Slowly, bone arms unfolding, Death embraced her for her last breath of life. Painless, instantaneous, But another weight was not letting her go. Legs shaky, her fawn baby standing on his own. (Oh, what will happen, abandoning him all alone?) The luminous moon’s sight, drawing soft light, “Life.” Death said, loving and precise... For at that time, a buck appeared by the fawn’s side. Understanding, this is where his mother’s body lies. Welcoming the fawn, under his watchful eye. ...yet Death is determined, it glides on silently... One joyous hare, one benevolent doe, for company... Under the glow of the luminous moonlight, It watches Death embrace the night. Under the shade of the forest canopy, The moon can see, what is meant to be. Death is embracing, Never shaming, Gently, lovingly... Gathering, the rest of its family. It was here, at the bottom of a cliff, Death finally stopped to sit, By the body of a frog, gasping to exist, panicked. Death tried to soothe, the frog refused, It had always been alone, now it loses existence too. Death paused and waited, listening to the mourning of the night, Before regarding the fragile frog, Begging for life. “You were never alone, I have always stayed close, Not so close as to scare you, just enough to let you grow. I understand this place is isolating, A labyrinth of time and misunderstanding. I won’t make you pick, you can be where you wanna be, Just remember this, you will always have family.” And as Death passed by with the hare and the doe, The frog trailed along, leaving his body to the crows! Under the glow of the luminous moonlight, It watched Death throughout the night. Under the shade of the forest canopy, The moon could see, Death coming back for its family. Death is embracing, Never shaming, Gently, lovingly... Gathering, the rest of its family. One joyous hare, One benevolent doe, One frightened frog, Along with his new friends, going home!
