I Don't Remember Me

Verse 1 I woke up somewhere I don't recognize. There is a ceiling above me, but I don't know this room. I look at my hands and they feel like someone else's. I keep waiting for a memory to come back. Nothing does. I don't know where I am. I don't know how I got here. I don't even know if anyone is looking for me. Verse 2 There used to be people. I know there were. I can feel it somewhere in the empty space inside me. But they left. One by one. Without explaining. Without looking back. And somehow I became so easy to abandon that nobody even noticed when there was nothing left of me. Pre-Chorus I keep asking myself the same questions. Who was I? What did I love? Who loved me? I don't know anymore. Chorus I don't remember me. I don't remember the sound of my own laughter. I don't remember what my voice sounded like before it became afraid. I don't know what I am without the people who told me who I was. They all disappeared. And now I'm standing here with an empty name and a life I can't remember living. Verse 3 Sometimes I see my reflection in a dark window. I stare at her for a long time. She looks exhausted. I wonder if she's waiting for someone too. Maybe she knows where we belong. Maybe she remembers what happened to us. But she just stares back. Bridge I wish someone would come in and say my name. Not because they know me. Just because I need to hear it from someone else to believe it was ever real. Verse 4 I search through my phone. There are old photographs. Old messages. Pieces of a life that apparently belonged to me. I see myself smiling beside people I don't recognize anymore. There is a girl in those pictures who looks so alive. I keep wondering what happened to her. I think I was supposed to be her. Chorus I don't remember me. I don't remember what home felt like. I don't remember the last time someone held me and meant it. I don't know where I belong now. I don't know what I'm supposed to become. Everyone left me with pieces of a story, but nobody stayed to tell me how it ends. Final Bridge Maybe that's the saddest part. I wasn't only abandoned by everyone else. Somewhere along the way, I abandoned myself too. I stopped listening to my own voice. Stopped asking what I wanted. Stopped remembering that I was once a person outside of everyone else's expectations. Chorus So here I am. Alone in a place I don't recognize, holding memories that don't feel like mine. I don't know where I am. I don't know who I was. I don't know what I am now. And there is nobody left to tell me. Nobody waiting outside. Nobody calling my name. Just me. A stranger wearing the face of someone I used to be. Outro I sit on the floor and whisper my name. Again. And again. It sounds unfamiliar. For a second, I almost believe I never existed at all. Then I start crying. Not because I remember who I was. But because I can't.
