EYES WIDE SHUT SILL-E | Straight Freestyle | 3 Verses | No Hook VERSE 1 — THE BLINDNESS We got our eyes wide open, but our vision on vacation, Everybody see the picture, nobody question the painting, We memorize the rules, never question who made ’em, Call ourselves free thinkers with our thoughts prearranged in. We read between the lines, but the lines were strategically placed, Truth standing in the doorway, we keep walking past its face, Got a world full of windows, still we live behind the drapes, Everybody wants the key, nobody studies the escape. We wear a mask so long, now the mirror looks suspicious, Built a life around appearances, forgot to check the fitness, We judge a book by its cover, then complain about the fiction, Want the truth until it finds us guilty by description. We got degrees in opinions, but no wisdom in the thesis, Everybody wants the harvest, nobody studies what the seed is, We keep feeding our egos, then wonder why our souls are starving, Got a million ways to reach each other, still the hearts are disconnected. They sell us dreams in a box, put a price on the illusion, We buy a piece of the lie, then defend it like it’s proven, If the truth is so powerful, why’s denial so amusing? Maybe blindness ain’t the absence of sight—it’s our refusal to use it. VERSE 2 — THE MIND TRAP We built a prison out of thoughts, then decorated every cell, Put a lock upon the truth and called the combination self, Every chain ain’t made of metal, some are stories that we tell, Some are wounds we keep rehearsing till the pain becomes our wealth. We confuse being informed with understanding what we know, Got a thousand different sources, still no wisdom in the flow, Everybody chasing answers, scared of questions that they owe, ’Cause the truth might kill the person that they spent their life to show. The loudest person in the room ain’t always carrying the facts, Sometimes silence sees the whole thing while the noise distracts, We keep searching for the enemy outside the walls we guard, Never noticing the gatekeeper is living in our hearts. We want change, but love routines that keep us mentally enslaved, Want the sun, but curse the darkness when it shows us what we made, Want the truth, but need it dressed up so our pride can feel okay, We’d rather have a beautiful lie than an ugly fact that saves. Now think about the eyes—what exactly do they reveal? You can watch a thousand sunsets, never understand what’s real, You can look directly at a broken soul and never see the wound, You can stand inside the truth and call it lies because it moved you. That’s the trick: the mind protects the things the heart can’t bear, Sometimes what we call our vision is just fear disguised as care, We don’t always miss the signs because the signs were never there, Sometimes we see exactly what we want—and stop right there. VERSE 3 — THE AWAKENING Maybe waking up ain’t seeing something nobody else can see, Maybe it’s admitting that the blindest one could sometimes be me, Maybe wisdom isn’t knowing—it’s examining belief, Pulling weeds out of your thinking before they strangle what you need. I used to think the world was dark, now I question my own lens, How much truth did I reject just to protect the person I was then? We keep asking for a map while walking circles in our heads, Blaming roads for every wrong turn when our pride was driving instead. You can open both your eyes and still be sleeping through your life, See the cracks inside another, never notice yours ain’t right, You can preach about the darkness while avoiding your own light, Be a lighthouse for the world and leave your own soul out of sight. The real revolution starts before a flag is ever raised, When you challenge every thought that you inherited unexamined, When you learn that being wrong ain’t the same thing as being weak, And the strongest mind’s the one that lets the truth come in and speak. So I question every mirror, every label, every frame, Every story I accepted just because they said my name, If I never check my vision, I could spend my life in chains, Blaming everybody else while I’m the one who holds the reins. Eyes wide shut—we see the world through what we fear, Build a wall around the truth, then wonder why it’s never near. The hardest thing to look at ain’t the monster in the room— It’s the person in the mirror who keeps giving it the room. SILL-E… Sometimes the blindfold ain’t tied around your eyes. It’s tied around your mind. And the hands that tied it? Might be your own.
