Painful to grow (WIP)

V5.5

Everything withers and everything shrivels Leaves turning in and mottling brown Everything rots and everything rusts Pieces flaking off and parts breaking down That’s nature, that’s life Just open your milky eyes And try to see But in that patch of dusty ash Something green begins to rise Even mold will start to grow Feeding on the death of all your failures and your lies That’s time, that’s universal creation Just open your cluttered mind And learn to see But why Does pushing up from the graveyard Tearing your hands as you reach through the dirt Your tongue licking away the stones Trying to taste the sunshine Why does the cutting of your flesh feel so slow Someone tell me Why is it painful Why is it so painful to grow Vivid buds on my body, blooms open in splendor At the same time ripping my skin Scars oozing nectar, attracting pollinators Who do I let land? Who do I let in? That’s wisdom, it’s churning Just open my boundaries And try just try to be But I don’t understand why every pop of a new cell Leaves me bleeding from a new hell I never feel quite free From the pain of being me why Does pushing up from the graveyard Tearing your hands as you reach through the dirt Your tongue licking away the stones Trying to taste the sunshine Why does the cutting of your flesh feel so slow Someone tell me Why is it painful Why is it so painful to grow
