USS Langley CV-1: The First of Many

[Intro spoken] A tribute to USS Langley - CV-1 [Verse] Old freighter on a timeless sea tonight You shed your skin for wartime flight Steel wings rose from wooden deck Langley's tale we won't forget [Verse 2] Lumbering slow then swift as wind From cargo holds to flight begin First of many in the Navy's sky Iron bird that learned to fly [Chorus] Langley rise above the foam Sail the skies born to roam In your shadow legends grew First of many bows to you [Verse 3] Ribbons of sky you bravely tore A pioneer forevermore Though you may be retired now Your spirit flies in every bow [Bridge] From freighter's hold to war machine You wore the fleet's first wings of dream Each takeoff etched in history Pathfinder to victory [Chorus] Langley rise above the foam Sail the skies born to roam In your shadow legends grew First of many bows to you
