[Intro: A lone electric guitar picks an arpeggio—clean but slightly warped, like an old vinyl record.] [Verse 1: Vocal is intimate, dry, and right in the listener's ear. You can hear the breaths.] I am building a tower out of copper wire and spit. Sitting in the center of a room that doesn't fit. The windows are painted black to keep the signal in. I’m waiting for the static where the silence begins. (Where it begins) [Refrain: The "Wall" hits. Fuzz pedals on. Massive, sustained chords. Vocals become ethereal and layered.] Is there anybody out there who feels the way I do? I’m sending up a flare, I’m burning through the blue. Is there anybody out there who feels the way I do? (Just one... just one...) [Verse 2: The drums enter. A quick heartbeat pattern. Kick... Rest... Snare. The guitar slide creates a "siren" effect.] I write the same sentence until the ink runs dry. Throw it in the ocean just to watch it die. It’s a secret language that only we can speak. A choir for the lonely, a sermon for the weak. (For the weak) [Refrain: Louder. The "shimmer" reverb makes the guitar sound like an organ.] Is there anybody out there who feels the way I do? I’m sending up a flare, I’m burning through the blue. Is there anybody out there who feels the way I do? (Just one... just one...) [Bridge: The music drops to just the bass drone and feedback. Spoken word, barely audible, reciting the "Incantation."] Art is the wire. (The wire) The wire is the blood. (The blood) The blood is the signal. (The signal) The signal is alone. (Alone) Art is the wire. (The wire) The wire is the blood. (The blood) The blood is the signal. (The signal) The signal is alone. (Alone) [Instrumental Break: The full band returns at maximum volume. A "Sludge-Gaze" climax.] [slow, heavy, and beautiful in a terrifying way. ] [The lead guitar plays a soaring, simple melody that repeats over and over, getting buried in feedback.] … [Verse 3: The vocals fight to be heard over the noise. It feels triumphant now.] I don’t need an answer, I just need the sound! To know that I’m standing on solid fucking ground! If you can hear this, then you’re not alone! We’re building a kingdom from the sticks and the stone! [Outro: The instruments slowly fade out one by one, leaving only the "ground loop" hum from the intro. The vocalist hums the melody softly.] Not alone. (I'm not alone.) I'm not alone. [The hum abruptly cuts to silence.]
