🥀 The Trail of Tears was the forced relocation of over 100,000 Native Americans.....including Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations......from their southeastern US homes to Oklahoma between 1830 and 1850. Sparked by the Indian Removal Act of 1830, tens of thousands died from disease, hunger, and cold due to brutal conditions, including over 4,000 Cherokee deaths. 🥀 🥀•*⁀➷ 💔ˋ°•*⁀➷🥀 ˋ°•*⁀➷ 💔 ˋ°•*⁀➷ 🥀 [Intro] [Verse 1] The frost was heavy on the mountain ridge, A quiet morning filled with sudden dread. They told us we could never stay again, And pushed us toward the cold and bitter wind. Our footsteps left a heavy, bloody trail, The strongest of us starting to grow pale, But we must keep on walking through the night, And search for any kind of morning light. [Chorus] We leave our hearts upon this sacred ground, No peace or comfort ever to be found. But we must find the strength to carry on, Until the sorrow of this night is gone. [Verse 2] The river frozen over like a sheet, And ice is cutting through our blistered feet. We bury brothers in the frozen mud, A heavy river flowing with our blood. The wagons creaking as they roll along, The silence louder than our ancient song. Still we look ahead and try to see, The promise of a land where we are free. [Chorus] We leave our hearts upon this sacred ground, No peace or comfort ever to be found. But we must find the strength to carry on, Until the sorrow of this night is gone. [Bridge] A thousand miles behind us in the snow, And many thousand more for us to go. They cannot take the spirit from our chest, Even when we are laid to final rest. [Outro] Remember us when the morning sun does rise, And keep our memory safe before your eyes. Remember.......us....... [End] 🥀•*⁀➷ 💔ˋ°•*⁀➷🥀 ˋ°•*⁀➷ 💔 ˋ°•*⁀➷ 🥀
