The Fear i Carry

+ Show full styles

Once again, I’m left alone, The house erupts, a breaking tone. My teddy peeks from corner tight, His eyes reflect a silent fright. Behind me — shouting, shattered glass, Mom’s in the corner, bruised, harassed. Dad breaks things, loud and wild and quick, My mind replays that childhood click. For every fault — a shameful sting, A punishment for everything. Tears come rushing, I don’t call, Dad has struck my mom once more. I close my eyes, just feel the fear, I want to run — but is my world here? I stand beside the railing high, My heart like glass beneath the sky. Cracked in places pain once grew, Where evil left its deepest hue. Below, the water softly sighs: “Your time is done — no more goodbyes. You don’t have to be afraid.” I close my eyes, the wind has stayed. Perhaps down there, I’d find my place… But something trembles, slows my pace. A voice inside begins to cry: “Don’t do this now — choose life, not why.” Tears come rushing, I don’t call, Dad has struck my mom once more. I close my eyes, just feel the fear, I want to run — but is my world here? But that was then — I see it clear. I won’t stay silent, won’t disappear. My eyes now burn with one desire: To live — not hide, not drown in fire. Though wounds still ache, though scars remain, This life is mine — not that old pain. I try to forget, but it’s not so light, Childhood left marks that grip me tight. I no longer scream in silent air, But silence knows — it’s always there. The past still knocks when night is long… But I am here. And I am strong.
