[FX: refrigerator hum • rain on windows • warped carnival organ • heartbeat • distant cat bell] [DANIELLE] [Tone: hollow • exhausted] [SX: slow inhale • blanket rustling] (Mmm) Another sunrise… Same four walls… Same empty house… Same echo calls… Who am I today? 💥 BEAT DROPS 💥 [ROUND ONE] [MARA] [Tone: smooth • amused] [SX: slow clap • quiet laugh] (Laughing) Funny how the girl that used to slam the front door laughing, kick her shoes across the room and lose herself for hours after working, now she measures every heartbeat like she’s counting down a sentence, every silent room’s another witness, every memory’s a weapon. You call it grieving, I call it fading, you call it healing, I call it waiting, sleeping through the daylight, staring through the nighttime, telling yourself tomorrow’s gonna feel a little less like a lifetime. Look at you… carrying ghosts like groceries, feeding every fear until it grows roots underneath. You’re still wearing Danielle’s face, but tell me honestly… when’s the last time you recognized the person underneath? (Chuckles.) [DANIELLE] [Tone: calm • biting] [SX: deep exhale] (Ugh) You edit every memory before you hand it back to me, crop out every victory and magnify catastrophe. Yeah, I bend beneath the weight, yeah, I ache, yeah, I break, but don’t confuse a wounded heart with disappearing without a trace. I buried Garfield, not my heartbeat. (Gasp) I buried yesterday, not the part of me that still gets dressed and walks into another day. You write endings before chapters even start. I keep turning pages even when it hurts. [FX: newspaper pages flying • camera flash • typewriter] [ROUND TWO] [MARA] [Tone: theatrical • fake news anchor] [SX: paper crumpling • applause] (Trilling) BREAKING NEWS! (Siren) Local woman reportedly vanished. Witnesses claim she smiled politely, stocked the shelves, helped the customers, thanked everybody kindly. Authorities searched her bedroom, searched her kitchen, searched her mirror, found a body going through the motions while the soul kept getting thinner. Case files mention restless sleeping, empty plates and heavy breathing, (breathing) holding onto teddy bears because the house won’t stop repeating every tiny sound she misses. Everybody says she’s living. I say she’s existing. Big difference. (Laugh) (Mock applause.) [DANIELLE] [Tone: sarcastic] [SX: slow clap] (Mm) Breaking news? Fear bought a printing press and hired panic as its editor. Every headline you’ve ever printed needed fiction to get better. You sell assumptions dressed as evidence, then swear they’re facts because they’re loud. Truth doesn’t need a megaphone. Truth survives the crowd. Yeah, my grief is real. So is every step I take. You never count the mornings that I choose to get awake. 💥 BEAT SWITCH 💥 [FX: warped calliope • roller coaster climbing • heartbeat faster] [ROUND THREE] [MARA] [Tone: whisper • venomous] [SX: footsteps circling] (Aw) Still sleeping with that little teddy head? Still reaching through the dark for someone gone instead? Still hearing phantom footsteps every time the hallway creaks? Still bargaining with silence every single night of every week? Tell me, how much longer you gonna rent a room inside the past? You’re feeding every memory while starving every chance to laugh. Look at that kitchen… look at that couch… look at that clock… the whole damn house knows you’re surviving instead of living. [DANIELLE] [Tone: furious • emotional] [SX: fist slams table] (Ah!) Don’t you dare confuse remembrance with a prison made of pain. Love leaves echoes—that’s the cost when something beautiful remains. I keep that teddy because it mattered. I cry because he mattered. (He does!) If I could love that deeply once, then maybe one day joy can gather. You’re terrified of hope because it proves you’re not the guide. You’d rather chain me to my losses than admit I’m still alive. [FX: fluorescent lights buzzing • scanner beeps• distant laughter] [FINAL ROUND] [MARA] [Tone: yelling • relentless] [SX: distorted laughter • glass cracking] (Hahahaha) YOU’RE RUNNING ON FUMES! YOU’RE A SHADOW IN A NAME TAG! EVERY SMILE’S A MASK, EVERY TOMORROW’S JUST THE SAME TRACK! YOU KEEP SHOWING UP BUT WHAT’S THE POINT IF YOU’RE JUST NUMB? LOOK AROUND! EVEN THIS HOUSE FORGOT WHO YOU’D BECOME! [DANIELLE] [Tone: explosive • unwavering] [SX: crowd roaring • heartbeat pounding] (QUIET!) NO! THIS HOUSE REMEMBERS EVERY FOOTSTEP THAT LOVE LEFT! EVERY TEAR IS PROOF THAT MY HEART HASN’T GIVEN UP YET! YOU KEEP WRITING MY OBITUARY BEFORE THE STORY’S EVEN TOLD! I’M STILL HERE, STILL WRITING, STILL FIGHTING, STILL REFUSING TO LET YOUR VOICE BE THE ONE THAT GROWS OLD! YOU CALL ME A MISSING PERSON—I CALL MYSELF A WOMAN CARRYING MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE EVER HAVE TO HOLD! [OUTRO] [FX: rain softens • refrigerator hum • heartbeat steadies] [MARA] [Tone: quiet] … I’ll be back tomorrow. [DANIELLE] [Tone: tired • steady] (Scoff) I know. But tomorrow… You don’t get to write my name
