I go from room to room September left no perfume I dressed for a change that never came The air still answers to summer’s name Hotter now than it was before What am I keeping that sweater for? Something’s missing this time around The leaves have yet to find the ground Weather hasn’t turned the way it should The A/C’s the only chill Tell me what happened to September? It’s hotter now than I remember as a child I swear September used to arrive mild They said a cold front was coming through If it did, it slipped the net and withdrew And here I sit, drowning in my sweater Something’s missing this time around The leaves have yet to find the ground Weather hasn’t turned the way it should I wore the wool like I understood Tell me what happened to September?
