Can We Talk About This? (Sir Bors)
[Verse 1] I woke this morning to alarming news apparently half the kingdom's singing different tunes Mordred wants the throne, Morgan wants a say and Arthur's still recovering from yesterday The knights are choosing sides across the land everybody's pointing swords instead of hands I know emotions may be running high but has anybody asked each other why? [Pre-Chorus] Before we start another war before we break another door before we burn what we can't replace perhaps we ought to meet face to face [Chorus] Can we talk about this? Can we sit down for a while? Can we listen to each other? Can we maybe try to smile? A civil war is not a plan it's mostly people getting hurt Let's discuss our thoughts and feelings before somebody charges first [Verse 2] Mordred says the kingdom lost its way Arthur says he'll deal with it someday Morgan says she only wants what's best which somehow makes me slightly more distressed Excalibur believes it's running fate that's probably a separate thing to navigate and every time I think we're making ground someone starts another argument about crowns [Pre-Chorus] Before we storm another gate before we let resentment escalate before the banners all divide perhaps we ought to sit inside [Chorus] Can we talk about this? Can we sit down for a while? Can we listen to each other? Can we maybe try to smile? A civil war is not a plan it's mostly people getting hurt Let's discuss our thoughts and feelings before somebody charges first [Bridge] I've prepared an agenda and several discussion groups there are chairs for everybody and complimentary soup We'll begin with introductions then establish common ground and if nobody interrupts we might turn this thing around [Break] "Mordred?" "No." "Morgan?" "No." "Arthur?" "Maybe later." "Excalibur?" "I AM THE LAW." "Oh dear..." [Final Chorus] Can we talk about this? Can we please remain polite? Can we lower all the weapons? Just for one single night? A civil war is not a plan it's mostly pride and bad decisions surely we can find a pathway through respectful supervision [Outro] I've booked the hall for next Thursday... please RSVP. ...why is everybody leaving? ...and who took the soup?
