[Verse 1] In a hole in the ground with a door that is round, in slippers and gown bilbo baggins can be found, If you ever pass the shire tea is at four, He never dreamed he’d need anything more. Then Gandalf came with a knock and a grin, Thirteen dwarves and one that's a king, Were on an adventure to the Lonely Mountain' To steal back our treasure from the dragon within, [Chorus] oh Bilbo, Bilbo, where have you gone? to find lonely mountains whilst singing this song, There and back again that is the plan, A burglar’s heart in a respectable man! (Hey-ho), a ring-a-ding-dong, dwarves are messy but ever so strong! [Verse 2] Goblins grabbed them down in the deep, Bilbo woke in the dark with a riddle to keep. What have I got in my pocket my friend, the Precious said Gollum, bilbo spared his end The ring slipped on poof gone from sight, He crept past the guards in the shadow of night. Out through a crack under the moon, A tiny hobbit thief still humming this tune! [Chorus] Oh Bilbo, Bilbo, what have you done? You’ve stolen more than gold, you’ve stolen the one! There and back again that is the plan, A burglar’s heart in a respectable man! (Hey-ho), a ring-a-ding-dong, dwarves are wide but not that long! [Verse 3] Spiders in Mirkwood trapped in a dream, Bilbo rode the river like a fish in a stream. Lake town feared when the dragon took flight, Bilbo faced down Smaug in the dead of the night. Oh Smaug the Tremendous what big teeth you have, He flattered the dragon till the beast went mad. Then the mountain shook and the armies they came, Five flags flying in a thunderous game! [Chorus] Oh Bilbo, Bilbo, whos side are you on? You’ve got this far but the job is not done! There and back again that is the plan, A burglar’s heart in a respectable man! (Hey-ho), ring-a-ding-dong, dwarves are brave but sometimes wrong! [Verse 4] He kept the Arkenstone to make peace at last, Though Thorin went mad when the arrows flew past. When the battle was over and the dragon lay cold, Bilbo took his share one fourteenth in gold. [bridge] But the best thing he carried wasnt the treasure: t'was the Story of courage too much to measure. [Chorus] Oh Bilbo, Bilbo, you’re home once more, Round green door your bare feet on the floor. There and back again what a glorious tale, The bravest hobbit with mithril chainmail , (Hey-ho), a ring-a-ding-dong now we get to the end of the song. [spoken] And that, my dear hobbits, is how bilbo Baggins of Bag End became the greatest adventurer the Shire ever had.
