(Verse 1) Walking down a dusty road, carrying a heavy weight Every step a battle, closing in upon the gate Trying to be the fortress, trying to be the wall Thinking I can handle it, standing right before the fall Then a brother steps right up, puts a hand upon my back Shows me where the light is shining, pulls me off the track Says "Don't you try to carry what was never meant for you, We’re walking this together, faithful, steady, and true." (Chorus) 'Cause iron sharpens iron when the world is ringing loud A band of godly brothers in a solitary crowd They’ll tell you what is holy, they’ll tell you what is true They’ll catch you when you stumble, and they’ll help to pull you through Yeah, men who walk beside you, who keep you in the light Standing strong together in the middle of the fight. (Verse 2) Sometimes pride gets heavy, sometimes blindness leads the way Thinking I got all the answers, leading me astray That’s when Godly counsel cuts right through the blinding fog Pulls me from the river, lifts me out of the mire and bog They don't feed the ego, they don't whisper flattering lies They point me to the Savior and they open up my eyes With wisdom built on Scripture, and a love that’s deep and real They help to shape the spirit and they help the soul to heal. (Chorus) 'Cause iron sharpens iron when the world is ringing loud A band of godly brothers in a solitary crowd They’ll tell you what is holy, they’ll tell you what is true They’ll catch you when you stumble, and they’ll help to pull you through Yeah, men who walk beside you, who keep you in the light Standing strong together in the middle of the fight. (Bridge) When the arrows start to fly and the enemy is near You need a shield beside you to chase away the fear Not a solitary soldier fighting in the dark A brotherhood of spirit bearing heaven's sacred mark When my knees begin to buckle and my footing starts to slide I’ve got godly men of valor standing right here by my side! (Guitar / Instrumental Interlude - Rising and Energetic) (Chorus) 'Cause iron sharpens iron when the world is ringing loud A band of godly brothers in a solitary crowd They’ll tell you what is holy, they’ll tell you what is true They’ll catch you when you stumble, and they’ll help to pull you through Yeah, men who walk beside you, who keep you in the light Standing strong together in the middle of the fight. (Outro) Standing strong together... Catching you when you fall... Helping you to stand... Iron sharpens iron.
