Paper 194 β The Bestowal of the Spirit of Truth πΆ Song: Spirit of Truth, Lead Us Home (Introduction 1 β The Promise Fulfilled) The Master rose to worlds on high, Yet spoke these words before goodbye: "I shall not leave you here alone, My Spirit shall make your hearts My home." The days went by in prayer and trust, Awaiting what was surely just. Then Heaven touched the souls below, And living streams began to flow. (Introduction 2 β Pentecost) Around one hundred gathered there, United deeply in their prayer. Then suddenly a presence came, Like inward fire without a flame. No earthly power could explain The joy that rushed through every vein. The fear of many vanished fast, The promised Comforter had come at last. (Verse 1 β The Spirit Descends) A deeper peace filled every mind, A greater confidence combined. The Spirit of Truth had now been given, Binding the hearts of earth and heaven. No longer limited by place, The Son revealed His living grace. Though unseen by mortal sight, His presence filled them with new light. (Chorus β Spirit of Truth) Spirit of Truth, awaken me, To know the Father faithfully. Guide every soul to recognize, The love that lives beyond the skies. Spirit of Truth, forever near, Transforming doubt and calming fear. Through every age Your voice makes known, The Father's love that leads us home. (Verse 2 β Peter's Sermon) Peter arose with courage strong, Proclaiming Christ the whole day long. The crowds were moved, their hearts inspired, As heavenly faith and hope caught fire. Yet in their zeal they turned their eyes Toward resurrection's glorious prize. And not completely did they see The fullness of the Master's ministry. (Bridge β The Religion of Jesus) The gospel Jesus came to bring Was not a creed or earthly thing. It was the Father's loving care, And knowing every soul is heir. The Fatherhood of God above, The brotherhood born out of love. The Kingdom living in the heart, Where every child may have a part. Some spoke of Jesus and His fame, And built devotion to His name. Yet Jesus taught through all His days, To seek the Father and His ways. Not only faith in Christ alone, But faith like His before the throne. The trust He lived, the life He showed, The Father's everlasting road. (Verse 3 β The New Age) Pentecost opened heaven's door, Like none had witnessed before. The Spirit's ministry began, To work within the heart of man. No race was left beyond its call, The Father's gift belongs to all. Wherever truth is sought and known, The Spirit helps God's children grow. (Bridge β The Great Declaration) Not merely signs nor wonders bright, Nor doctrines born of sacred light. The greatest truth remains the same, Before all worlds and every name: The Father loves His children all, And hears the weakest when they call. One family throughout creation, Bound together in salvation. (Final Chorus β The Living Gospel) Spirit of Truth, now let us be The sons and daughters made free. Teaching the message Jesus gave, The Father's love has power to save. Spirit of Truth, renew the earth, Reveal each soul's divine birth. Until all mankind comes to see, The truth of God's great family. (Outro β The Gospel of the Kingdom) The crowds remembered what was done, The risen and victorious Son. Yet deeper still the message stood, The Father's love forever good. And through the ages shines the call, The greatest truth embracing all: The Fatherhood of God above, The brotherhood of man through love.
