Don't follow losers. Burnout is a culture, not an individual experience. In burnout cultures, you and everyone else is a finite resource. In many companies today, the work you do is meaningless because the company is measuring the wrong things. You eventually find yourself working in a place where everything is seen as temporary including the people. This usually reflects in your performance reviews. You are always seen as capable but too inexperienced to move up. The truth is you're not being evaluated on your capabilities. You're not being evaluated at all. Culture is driven by incentives, and when it comes to incentives, you get what you measure. Most organizations measure burnout not performance. Most organizations measure burnout not performance. stop staying loyal to organizations that encourage burnout. You avoid losers and you choose to only be around people who you can learn from, instead of people simply providing you feedback so that you'll stay motivated. The main thing is to leave before you burn out. If you are burnt out, then you generally have to either switch jobs or switch professions or you'll find yourself bitter and eventually fired once they need to cut costs or reorganize. Learn from the experience and be more selective about where you work and who you work for.
