[Please support the official release] O God of Isr’el, none can be compared To Thee in heav’n above or earth below; O God of Isr’el O God of Isr’el, none can be compared To Thee in heav’n above or earth below; Who keeps Thy cov’nant, faithful and declared, With servants who before Thy presence go. Thou spak’st to David with a solemn word, And with Thine hand hast made it good this day; Now let Thy promise to Thy servant, Lord, Be carried out, and never pass away. But will God truly dwell on earth with men? Lo! heav’n and heav’n of heav’ns cannot contain Thy boundless glory—how much less this den Of stone, which I have built with toil and pain! Yet, O my God, respect Thy servant’s plea; Let now Thine eyes be open night and day Toward this place, where Thou hast said shall be Thy Name, to hearken when Thy servants pray. If any man his neighbor shall offend, And come and swear an oath before Thine shrine, Then hear from heav’n, and judgment swiftly send, The wicked’s deeds upon his head confine. If Thine own people, smitten by the foe, Turn back to Thee, confessing all their sin, O hear from heaven, and mercy show, And bring them to their fathers’ land again. When skies are shut and there descends no rain, Because Thy people have transgressed Thy way, If they shall pray, and turn from sin again, Then hear, forgive, and send the show’rs, we pray. When famine, plague, or pestilence shall fall, And each man knows the plague within his heart, Hear Thou from heaven, Thy dwelling-place o’er all, Forgive and act, as each doth his own part. The stranger, too, from lands of far renown, Who comes because Thy mighty Name is great, When he shall pray, turned toward this holy town, O hear from heaven, and answer his estate; That all the peoples of the earth may know Thy Name, and fear Thee, as Thy people do, And know this house is called by Thee, and so Thy glory fills the nations through and through. And if Thy people, taken captive, cry From lands afar where they in bondage pine, With all their heart and soul to Thee they fly, Praying toward this land and house of Thine, Then hear from heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high, Forgive Thy people who have done amiss, And grant them mercies in their captors’ eyes, For they are Thine own eternal heritage, and this Thou swor’st by Moses, bringing them to this. [interlude] Now let Thine eyes be open to the plea Of Thy poor servant, and of Isr’el’s race; And hearken, Lord, whenever we cry to Thee. For Thou didst choose us by Thy saving grace. Amen.
