Dusty Boots

V4.5+

Posters on my bedroom wall, I couldn't wait to leave it all. Stride new streets in well-worn boots, Making new friends for a day or two, Then packing my bags and shooting through. Life got busy, I lost myself, Dusty boots going mouldy on the shelf. Old dreams buried down so deep, I can’t find them when I sleep. But I still believe, The fire’s inside of me… I’d climb any mountain, Cross any desert wide, Swim through the oceans With you by my side. My dreams never died, They just grew up true, I can’t imagine a life Without them, without you. I climbed a mountain, trying to feel alive, But the ache remained, no matter how I strived. Each day repeating, a wheel that spun, Til I saw my reflection in what we’d become. On the couch with the kids, The dog in my lap, I catch your eye, And there’s no turning back. This quiet life is the dream I found, It’s the song in my heart, it’s the sweetest sound. I’d climb any mountain, Cross any desert wide, Swim through the oceans With you by my side. My dreams never died, They just grew up true, I can’t imagine a life Without them, without you. Dreams never died… They just grew up too… And every road led home, To a life with you.
