Wall Snaps Shut
Had a mild crisis while perusing Spotify. It was The Glitch Mob's "Drink the Sea" album, in case you're wondering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Wow, this playlist has like 1300 songs in it, what was I thinking back then?” Here’s a band with a name that keeps my brain itching and I’m twitching like I know it and I know that I know it and it shows that I once loved it cause I liked it and I moved it but is it still the right fit I don’t know if I can groove with it anymore- anymore, anymore. The name of this song isn’t ringing any bells And I can’t find the tune or the beat through all the hell That keeps submerging me and dulling out the pleasant thumping sounds Once all this music kept me floating, barely touching solid ground But now… I don’t know how And now It looks so far down And there it is… There it is… Another memory (there it goes-) Yes, another memory (take it slow-) Slipping out of my head to the floor Hitting hard with a shatter (and a scatter-) Scatter, scatter everywhere- There it goes Yeah, there it goes there it goes What else am I missing? What should I be fixing when the wall snaps shut? When the wall snaps shut Barely three notes in and where do I begin how did I- how did I- HOW DID I FORGET YOU three notes, barely three notes into the first song and they’re shattering the wall thrown up around a whole album and I’m sitting here all numb drinking the sea in a ten track stumble on a one hour tumble and I know it isn’t life-altering and it doesn’t grip the heart or anything but- “How, how the hell do you forget an entire band when this song was your ring tone for nearly five years?!” What else is there? What else… Is there another memory Yes, another memory Slipping out of my head to the floor Hitting hard with a shatter (and a scatter-) Scatter, scatter everywhere- There it goes Yeah, there it goes there it goes What else am I missing? What should I be fixing when the wall snaps shut? Sorry for the rant… I just wanted to vent… I’ve been trying to return to some more solid ground and I think I can remember where it is by the sound of my toes barely scraping as I hover through the clouds but if I can’t remember… if I can’t remember how… What else am I missing?
