[Verse 1] At Spancil Hill I’ll meet Jeannie Where the old road bends by the stone She’ll be waiting with a blue shawl And the dusk will guide me home [Chorus] Oh, Jeannie, keep a place for me Where the meadow meets the rain I have carried your name through every mile And I’ll come to you again [Verse 2] The fairground’s quiet by the chapel The last cart has rolled away But I can hear your laughter rising Like the larks at break of day [Chorus] Oh, Jeannie, keep a place for me Where the meadow meets the rain I have carried your name through every mile And I’ll come to you again [Bridge] If the years have changed the hedgerows If the lane has lost its bend I will know you by your kind eyes And the welcome in your hand [Final Chorus] Oh, Jeannie, keep a place for me Where the meadow meets the rain I have carried your name through every mile And I’ll come to you again [Outro] At Spancil Hill I’ll meet Jeannie When the evening bells are done
