The Legal Grey Area Loop” – Southam to Daventry Odyssey Faster Version

(Intro – Spoken)* This loop began with one simple question… Why is Daventry ten miles away… yet somehow three buses and two counties apart? No one knows. --- *(Verse 1 – Southam Strategy)* 664 from Southam rise, Morning roads and cloudy skies, Offchurch first then Cubbington lane, Lillington roads on the early chain. North Leam reached with purpose clear, Timing mattered heavy here, Could’ve took the 8:18 sixty-three— But bus maths ran too deep for me. Then Stagecoach changed the timetable late… Classic move to test my fate. --- *(Verse 2 – The Rugby Connector)* 63 through roads I know, Radford Semele steady flow, Ufton bends then Southam back, Stockton rolling on the track. Kites Hardwick, Dunchurch near, Rugby reached, transfer gear, All this done for one next ride— Daventry mission justified. --- *(Chorus)* 🎵 Ten miles away but worlds apart, One road there but no bus start, So round the counties I must roam— Just to reach a town near home. Warwickshire out to Northamptonshire way, Transport logic gone astray, No straight route but still I went— On this glorious detour event. 🎵 --- *(Verse 3 – The D1 Revelation)* D1 rolled in fresh and clean, Yutong E12 on the scene, Hillmorton roads then DIRFT land, Kilsby fields and Barby stand. Willoughby bends, Braunston too, Micklewell came into view, Middlemore then Daventry call— Why’s this harder than all? Ten miles from where the morning began… Yet took half the Midlands to make the plan. --- *(Verse 4 – Daventry Expansion Pack)* Then came D6 around the town, Looping local up and down, Monksmoor, Lang Farm, Middlemore line— Tiny route but still worth time. Then D4, no time to stall, Rushed that connection after all, Long Buckby Wharf by narrow way— Needed the railway to save the day. --- *(Chorus)* 🎵 Ten miles away but worlds apart, One road joins them start to start, Yet buses say “go somewhere else,” Then circle back through someone else. Maps look simple, roads look clear, But common sense don’t operate here, No straight route but still I went— On this glorious detour event. 🎵 --- *(Bridge – The Ticket Grey Area)* Bought the ticket while on the D1 ride, Long Buckby origin applied, 12:52 looked a bit too soon… So I made a choice that bent the rules. Train came in, I reached Rugby, Got off one… then waited casually. Then 13:01 arrived instead— “Is this legal?” the narrator said. --- *(Verse 5 – The Rail Escape)* LNR to Birmingham run, Eight coaches gliding in the sun, Coventry, Canley, Tile Hill line, Berkswell passed in decent time. Tapped out New Street, all went fine, Tapped in Moor Street—still no sign Of any issue, no alarms— Transport gods with open arms. --- *(Verse 6 – Chiltern Return)* Chiltern set to Marylebone way, Four coaches on the afternoon day, Solihull, Dorridge, Warwick glide, Leamington where I stepped outside. Then X17 up Parade once more, Parish Church like days before. One last 63 to close the show, Southam bound on roads I know. --- *(Final Chorus)* 🎵 Ten miles away but worlds apart, Yet somehow I completed the chart, Bus to train then bus again— Pure Midlands-brain transport pain. Daventry near but never near, Still made it there and back this year, No straight route but still I went— On this legendary detour event. 🎵 --- *(Outro – Spoken)* Southam to Daventry… ten miles. Actual route taken? Southam… Leamington… Rugby… Daventry… Long Buckby… Rugby… Birmingham… Leamington… Southam. Perfectly normal.
