HALO EFFECT [Intro] I painted your silhouette on my wall. Then forgot what you looked like. [Verse 1] Blue light moving across your face. Filling the silence with things you'd never say. Every flaw faded when I got too close. I wasn't seeing you. I was seeing what I hoped. [Pre-Chorus] I made you brighter than you ever were. Now I can't tell where you end and I begin. [Chorus] Burn out the halo. Let me see your face in the dark. Burn out the halo. Let me see you exactly as you are. I made you perfect till you disappeared. Now I want the person I couldn't see from here. Burn out the halo. [Post-Chorus] No light. No glow. There you are. [Verse 2] I learned every angle that made you look right. Cut out the pieces that didn't fit the light. Turned every warning into something I could explain. Kept what I wanted. Let the rest fade away. [Pre-Chorus] I made you brighter than you ever were. Maybe I wasn't seeing you. Maybe I was seeing the blur. [Chorus] Burn out the halo. Let me see your face in the dark. Burn out the halo. Let me see you exactly as you are. I made you perfect till you disappeared. Now I want the person I couldn't see from here. Burn out the halo. [Bridge] You weren't perfect. You were right there. I kept adding light until you disappeared. [Build] Take the light away. All of it. Let me look. [Final Chorus] Burn out the halo. Let me see your face in the dark. Burn out the halo. Let me see you exactly as you are. No perfect picture. No version in my head. Just what was always there when all that light went dead. Burn out the halo. [Outro] The room went dark. I looked at the glass. For the first time— there were two people looking back.
